Our “go-to” Gin & Tonic

There’s literally no drink as simple or as classy as the G&T… for me at least. Especially since my husband bought those massive ball ice cubes (not pictured). They just make everything seem so much more fancy, even if it’s a quick Friday night nightcap to step down from a crazy few days; or a nice backyard drink as we relax with friends in the evening. Also this is his favourite cocktail so I can make it with my eyes closed.

It’s funny because my favourite cocktails are sweet and fruity but for the G&T I make a lot of exceptions. Of course there are numerous variables; the quality of the gin (we typically use Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire), the brand of the tonic water (Fever tree fans here), the amount of ice, whether you squeeze the lime, splash or simply dunk. Fun fact: Your G&T is only as good as your gin and your tonic. I bet you didn’t know that :D

But well, here’s my recipe. Seriously. This is literally the easiest recipe on this website. Sadly, I have no mocktail option for this one, because yeah, it wouldn’t be a G&T without the G!

Prep Time: 3 mins

yield: 2 glasses

Ingredients:

  • 120ml Gin

  • 300 ml Tonic Water

  • Lime wedges

  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. In a highball glass filled with ice cubes, pour the gin, then top with tonic.

  2. Stir to combine gently, just enough to ensure no carbonation is lost.

  3. Run the lime wedge around the rim of the glass, dash a splash of lime juice in and dunk the wedge to garnish.

  4. Enjoy!
